Before the operation:
- The doctor asks the patient to perform some necessary tests to check his or her health.
- Your doctor will discuss with you the appropriate options and show you the surgical plan.
- Discuss with your doctor your expectations and hopes for the operation and what end result you desire.
- You should refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol for at least 30 days before the procedure.
- Fasting completely for 8 hours before the procedure.
About the process:
In the procedure, the skin is lifted, and the tissues and muscles are tightened, and may involve carving, transferring, or removing facial and neck fat. The doctor makes an incision behind the ear, tightens muscle tissue and skin, and removes the excess. An incision may be made in the lower chin area to tighten the neck and remove excess fat and skin from it. Upon completion, the doctor closes the incisions with self-melting sutures and covers the face with elastic bandages. The process takes 2 to 6 hours depending on the desired change.
After a facelift:
It is necessary to get a complete rest in the first 48 hours after the operation, and commit to the following instructions:
- Follow your doctor’s instructions about how to take care of the treated area.
- Wear clothes with buttons on the front and avoid those that are pulled over the head.
- Avoid sports and intense physical activities.
- Avoid using makeup.
- Avoid direct exposure to the sun.
