About the process:
It is possible to perform a neck lift with local anesthesia or under general anesthesia.
The doctor makes a small incision behind each ear and under the chin. Then begins liposuction from the jawline and under the chin. (In case the procedure is caused only by excess fat) liposuction will be enough to give you a tightened neck.
However, liposuction will not correct structural problems in your neck. Your doctor will discuss with you what type of surgery is right for you, based on several factors, such as the desired outcome and the cost that is right for you.
Before the operation:
- Your doctor will ask you about your current and past medical condition, the medications and supplements you are taking as well as any surgery you have had previously.
- It is possible that your doctor will suggest additional procedures such as eyebrow lifts or eyelid surgery to get the best result.
- Your doctor will examine your face and may take some photos to compare your appearance before and after surgery.
- Discuss with your doctor your expectations and hopes for the operation and what end result you desire.
- You should refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol for at least 30 days before the procedure.
- Fasting completely for 8 hours before the procedure.
After the operation:
You may experience swelling and bruising after the procedure. So, you need to:
- Wear a special compressor collar to reduce swelling.
- Keep your head high above heart level and keep it straight.
- Be careful not to bend your neck.
After several weeks, the swelling and bruising begin to disappear completely so be sure to protect your skin from the sun’s rays and don’t wear the clothes you need to pull over the neck.
